SEATTLE MAMAYA DANCE IN MODE BAZINS

Come join us for an unforgettable night of dancing at the Seattle Mamaya Dance in Mode Bazins event! Get ready to groove to the latest beats and show off your best dance moves in your favorite bazins outfit. This in-person event promises to be filled with energy, music, and lots of fun. Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity to dance the night away with friends and fellow dance enthusiasts!

The mamaya dance starts with men and women all dressed in goubas ou boubous (large, amply cut shirt-like outer garments) or in white or sky blue embroidered shirts. The dancers split into two concentric circles, the women's circle within the men's circle. They perform the steps of the dance in a majestic fashion, here waving a white handkerchief, usually serenaded by a griot or djely. Here in Seattle our Mamaya dance will be led by our griot/artist Boka Kouyate, who’s originally from Kankan as well.
