Frequently asked questions

Where in the building does this take place?

In the Browsery on the ground floor. This area is located by the windows, near the magazines, holds, CDs, and DVD area. When in doubt, ask at the front desk.

What time should performers arrive?

Sign-up for performers begins at 5:30pm, but there's no harm in arriving earlier. Sometimes this open mic sees a large turnout, so arriving before 5:30pm increases your chances for getting on the list.

Is swearing or mature content allowed?

As long as it does not violate the library rules of conduct. For more information, please see: https://torontopubliclibrary.typepad.com/board-meetings/2022-09-19/11-tplb-education-incident-report-management-system-and-rules-of-conduct-policy-combined-AODA.pdf .

Can I bring my kids?

It's up to you. This program is specifically for adults, teens, and seniors. Sometimes swearing or mature content occurs in the performances. To all parents and guardians, please keep this in mind and use your discretion.

How long can I perform?

Each performer gets 5 minutes to perform. There is a large countdown clock at the front of the stage, facing the performer, to help them keep track of their time.

Can I take pictures or record video of the performances?

Only with the permission of the performer. In addition, the library requires that the performer and photographer/videographer together sign a form. Please ask the host for a copy of the library photo/video permission form.

Can I sign up in advance?

No. We do not provide advance sign-up for this open mic. We follow a strict 5:30pm sign-up start time on the day of the event. We apologize in advance for any inconveniences, which occur as a result of this policy.

Do I need to bring my Eventbrite ticket in order to attend?
